This week on One Single Impression the prompt is: Skin

Freedom

Skin stretching tight

disguising emotions

invisible to all

Tears trapped inside

bursting seams, strangled

by loss and loneliness

Skin peeling back

revealing yesterday

tired and exposed

Tears falling free,

releasing pain and guilt

freedom to love myself

  1. this was really lovely. i like how in the end, the tears are liberated. tears are good.

  2. as floreta said in a differnt way, tears are protective too, like skin…

    thank you for this, Melody

  3. “Skin peeling back
    revealing yesterday
    tired and exposed”

liberating tears is wonderful, but I love this stanza … it speaks volume!

  4. Tears are a barrier too, like skin, to be vaulted.

  5. The same verse that struck Amias speaks to me. Your work shows human vulnerability and more.

  6. Pain yet it has strength too…

    frenzied entropies

And please do visit the Poetry Train being run each Monday!

  7. Now, that is a deep look inside.
